Where has the time gone? Sometimes it feels like we just got Alia, and other times it feels like she has been with
us forever.
Now that Alia has been with us for 16 months she has really changed. She is much more secure -- although not anything
like our first two children. She does not like strangers in our home. She really doesnt like other babies in her
home. This is her exclusive property. And its so funny when we go on a trip and then return. The minute
we walk into the door she lets out this big big sigh like some little old man. Her home appears to be her biggest security
blanket.
Having Alia's pictures taken for her second birthday was a real nightmare. Again, she doesnt care for strangers.
And having two people trying to get her attention and make her sit a certain way, etc. -- well, lets just say it didnt
go all that well. At least we got a few shots out of the session -- but I wont be doing that again any time soon.
Alia appears to be behind when it comes to language. She uses sign language and body language more than words.
She has finally reached the 50 word point that she should be at -- but put her in a room with other children her age
and it is very apparent that she is not on the same level when it comes to speech.
Alia has been very healthy. Almost no colds or ear infections except what she came home with. I've been amazed
at how little she has come down with. And what a blessing to have a child that doesnt get ear infections. That
gets old fast.
We took a big vacation that included 6 days in the car. I'm happy to report that she did great. Stopping at a hotel
with a pool is the thing that really helps out. This kid is crazy about swimming.
At 2 Alia is only 22 pounds and very petite. It appears that she will not be a very big girl.
